How does the US Chess rating calculator work?

This calculator implements the official US Chess (USCF) rating algorithm as defined by Mark E. Glickman and Thomas Doan. It calculates your new rating based on your pre-event rating, number of prior games, and tournament results against opponents.

Is this calculator accurate?

Yes, this calculator uses the official USCF Regular (OTBR) rating algorithm with two-pass calculation. However, this is an unofficial tool for estimation purposes only. Official ratings are calculated by US Chess.

What information do I need to calculate my chess rating?

You need your pre-event rating, number of prior games, and for each tournament game: your opponent's rating, their number of prior games, and your result (win/draw/loss).
